A couple of years ago think it was 2013 we visited Dubrovnik before the huge boom of tourist after the popular serie Games of Thrones.
Dubrovnik Croatia is Ideal For a short city trip.
Located At the most Southern tip of Croatia the Temperatures are pleasant throughout the whole year. Dubrovnik is considered one of the most beautiful cities of the Adriatic coast and is therefore also called the ' Pearl of the Adriatic '.
The old completely walled Fortified City Of Dubrovnik is on the Unesco list.
We flew with Easyjet directly from Amsterdam to Dubrovnik where we rent a car to explore the Adriatic coast. Our hotel was located a 20 min drive from Dubrovnik on the beach of Mlini A beautiful little village with a nice beach and promenade. From here we visited Dubrovnik and Cavtat a few years ago.
What to do in Dubrovnik:
• Take a walk on the Walls, For about 10 euros you can explore the walls all day. Tip go early in the morning or afternoon because Dubrovnik is quite a busy Tourist City.
• A visit to the Trsteno Arboretum (Beautiful Botanical Gardens, known from Game of Thrones)
• Wander around the city and climb the stairs of the side streets
• Create your own Game of Thrones tour
When you walk through the city, you will be asked for the oats or you want to participate in a Game of Thrones Tour. Although it's like a fan of Game or Thrones Very nice to visit these locations and hear the related stories, the tours are generally quite expensive. In addition, you can easily visit all these locations yourself
• Visit the Fort Lovrijenac With The Entrance ticket of the City Walls
• Relax on the beach or at the harbor
• The Rector’s Palace The palace was the Seat of the Rector of the Republic Ragusa Between the 14th and 19th centuries. It also includes a weapon depot, lookout tower, Gunpowder warehouse, and jail. Architecturally speaking, this is a very interesting building, with both Renaissance and Baroque elements. This mix of styles gives the building something timeless and makes it aesthetically one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.
• Walk across the Stradun: The main street of the Old Town Stradun is a 300-meter long promenade Running through the center of the Old Town. When you walk through this busy passage, you will be hard to imagine that this was once a marshy channel that Ragusa Separated from the forest establishment Dubrava. The country was recovered in the 13th century and now connects the eastern and western access of the city.

Everywhere in the city, yousee the Game of Thrones Tour. Lovers of the series run under the guidance of a guide along with all the important film locations where the guide shows the pictures of how the scene looked on TV. Even though you do not do the tour, as Game or Thrones Enthusiast will also recognize the places of the series. The Lovrijnacfort is the location for the fighting in Blackwater Bay, the steps of the Dominican monastery often come back in the capital and so there are more places that you recognize instantly. Rondlopend by the city, you can also understand that the creators of the series chose this city as a backdrop.

City trippen in Dubrovnik Kroatië
Dubrovnik Kroatië is ideaal voor een korte city trip of uitstapje in Kroatië gelegen op het zuidelijkste puntje van Kroatië zijn de temperaturen er het hele jaar door aangenaam. Dubrovnik wordt als een van de mooiste steden van de Adriatische kust beschouwd en daarom ook wel de 'Parel van de Adriatische Zee' genoemd. De oude, compleet ommuurde vestingstad van Dubrovnik staat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van de UNESCO
We vlogen met easy jet rechtstreeks vanaf Amsterdam naar Dubrovnik waar we een huurauto hadden gereserveerd om ze de Adriatische kust te verkennen. Ons hotel was gelegen een 20 min rijden vanaf Dubrovnik aan het strand van Mlini een prachtig klein dorp met leuk strand en boulevard. Van hieruit bezochten we Dubrovnik en Cavtat.
Wat te doen in Dubrovnik:
Maak een wandeling over de stadsmuren, Voor ongeveer 10 euro mag je de hele dag de muren verkennen. Tip ga vroeg in de morgen of na middag omdat Dubrovnik best een drukke toeristische stad is. Zomers zijn de temperaturen ook beter morgens.
Een bezoek aan het Trsteno Arboretum (prachtige botanische tuinen, bekend van Game of Thrones)
Dwaal rond in de stad en beklim de trappen van de zij straatjes
Maak je eigen Game of Thrones tour Wanneer je door de stad loopt, word je om de haverklap gevraagd of je deel wilt nemen aan een Game of Thrones tour. Hoewel het als fan van Game of Thrones erg leuk is om deze locaties te bezoeken en de bijbehorende verhalen te horen, zijn de rondleidingen over het algemeen wel vrij duur. Bovendien kun je al deze locaties heel gemakkelijk zelf bezoeken
Bezoek het fort Lovrijenac met het toegangskaartje van de stads muren
Relax op het strand of aan de haven
Het Rector’s Paleis Het paleis was de zetel van de Rector van de Republiek Ragusa tussen de 14de en de 19de eeuw. Het omvat ook een wapendepot, uitkijktoren, kruitmagazijn en gevangenis. Architecturaal gezien is dit een erg interessant gebouw, met zowel renaissance als barok elementen. Deze mix van stijlen geeft het gebouw iets tijdloos en zorgt ervoor dat het esthetisch één van de mooiste gebouwen van de stad is.
Wandel over de Stradun: dé hoofdstraat van de oude stad Stradun is een 300 meter lange promenade die door het centrum van de oude stad loopt. Wanneer je door deze drukke doorgang loopt, zal je je maar moeilijk kunnen voorstellen dat dit ooit een moerassig kanaal was dat Ragusa afscheidde van de woudvestiging Dubrava. Het land werd teruggewonnen in de 13de eeuw en verbindt nu de oostelijke en westelijke toegang van de stad.

Met de kabelbaan van het oude centrum naar de top van de Srd berg
·Als je langer dan een dag in of rond Dubrovnik verblijft is een excursie naar Nationaal Park Mljet zeker de moeite waard
Ga heerlijk eilandhoppen naar de eilanden voor de kust (met eigen boot, huurboot of boek een minicruise)
Overal in de stad kom je ze tegen de Game of Thrones tour. Liefhebbers van de serie lopen onder leiding van een gids langs alle belangrijke filmlocaties waarbij de gids onderwijl de foto’s laat zien van hoe de scene er op tv uit zag. Ook al doe je niet de tour, als Game of Thrones liefhebber zal je vanzelf ook de plaatsen uit de serie herkennen. Het Lovrijnacfort is de locatie voor de gevechten in Black Water Bay, de trappen van het Dominicanenklooster komen vaak terug in de hoofdstad en zo zijn er meer plaatsen die je direct herkent. Rondlopend door de stad snap je ook dat de makers van de serie deze stad uitkozen als decor.
