Peyto Lake
Our first stop in Banff national park was Peyto lake The most popular glacier-fed lake, Peyto Lake is also the most visited and photographed lake in the Canadian Rockies. During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake, and these suspended rock particles give the lake a bright, turquoise color. The lake is best seen from Bow Summit which is 2,088 meters (6,800 feet) above sea level. Bow Summit is the highest point on the drive from Banff to Jasper and is the highest elevation crossed by a public road in Canada.
Lake Louise
After we checked in at our hotel we drove to Lake Louise to watch the sunset. During sunset, most crowds will be gone and in my opinion, it's the best time to visit the lake. During the summer, you want to take advantage of the incredible lakes inside Banff National Park. Lake Louise is one of the most popular options and is home to a ton of summer activities. Rent a canoe, conquer a nearby hiking trail or tackle the lake’s bubbling rapids.
Lake Moraine
Another picturesque lake is Lake Moraine. Here you’ll find excellent canoeing conditions, and hiking trails, Be aware it's a popular sunrise spot, so during high season the parking lot will be full 2 hours before sunset and they will close the road.
Lake Agnes
The Lake Agnes Trail is an accessible and relatively short hike up to the Lake Agnes Tea House which was built by the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1901 as a refuge for hikers. The trail has an elevation gain of 1,312 feet and offers fantastic views of the Nokhu Crags and Lake Louise. The Tea House is a real treat while enjoying views of the lake and is open from early June through October. The trailhead can be accessed from Lake Louise near the Fairmont Chateau Hotel.
Ride the Lake Louise Summer Gondola
When the ski hill sheds its winter coat, it comes alive with summer wildlife. The Lake Louise Summer Gondola is the ideal basecamp to explore the area The interpretive center is a great opportunity to learn more about the local wildlife and with the grassy slopes being a prime grizzly bear habitat, there’s a high chance to safely spot one in person.
Watch for wildlife
Early autumn is a busy time for animals. For one, it's the elk mating season. You'll hear the sound of male elk bugling, which echoes throughout the valley. It's unsafe to approach elk at any time of year, and male elk are particularly dangerous during the rut, but a guided wildlife tour lets you observe these magnificent animals from a safe distance.
Johnston Canyon
Johnston Canyon is a fantastic place to go for a hike in Banff. It is easily accessible and located along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway. The hike starts on a wide and well-maintained paved pathway that follows alongside the deep and gorgeous canyon, with water flowing through it and several small waterfalls over the rocks. There are some sections of the trail where you walk along metal catwalks fixed to the side of a vertical cliff wall, which is exciting! The trail also passes through beautiful forested sections and it is very scenic along the entire way. There are some gradual inclines but is overall, a pretty flat and easy hike.
Emerald lake and natural bridge
Just 25 miles from Lake Louise, there is a treasure trove of glittering aqua magic at the rushing waters of Natural Bridge and in the serene, glassy depths of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. Emerald Lake is located in Yoho National Park In British Columbia. It is the largest of Yoho’s lakes and one of the most popular. The lake is enclosed by the mountains of President Range as well as Mount Burgess and Wapta Mountain. The name of the lake comes from its beautiful green color.
Emerald Lake is located twenty minutes west of Lake Louise. Take the Trans Canada Highway #1 heading west towards Field and Golden B.C. The turn-off to Emerald Lake is located 1km past the town of Field.
An easy 5 km trail goes completely around the lake. It allows you to take in views of the mountains and experience the variety of vegetation in the area. Other trails originate at the lake leading into the surrounding high country area. Canoe and boat rentals are available at the boathouse near the parking lot. A small gift shop is located there as well.

Lake Louise
Nadat we ingecheckt waren bij ons hotel reden we naar Lake Louise om naar de zonsondergang te kijken. Tijdens de zonsondergang, zijn de meeste dagjes mensen al weg en in mijn opinie de beste tijd om Lake Louise te bezoeken . Lake Louise is één van de meest populaire meren in Banff en is de thuisbasis voor een ton van zomer activiteiten. Huur een kano, hike langs het meer, bezoek Lake Agnes of geniet gewoon van alle geweldige kleuren.
Lake Moraine
Een ander schilderachtig meer is Lake Moraine . Hier vindt u uitstekende kano opties en hiking trails. Wees ervan bewust dat het een populaire zonsopgang plek, dus tijdens hoogseizoen is de parkeerplaats 2 uur voor zonsondergang volledig bezet en word de weg er naar toe afgesloten.

Zie de Rocky Mountains vanuit een nieuw perspectief , vanaf het prachtige meer Minnewanka op een panoramische 1 uur cruise. Beginnend vanaf het westelijke uiteinde van het grootste meer in Banff . We kozen voor de cruise van 1 uur om 10.00 uur en hadden de boot bijna voor onszelf.
Lake Louise-zomergondel
Wanneer de ski berg haar winterjas verliest, komt hij tot leven met de zomer en is een idiale plek om wildlife te spotten.
Dieren in het wild
De vroege herfst is een drukke tijd voor dieren. Het geluid van mannelijke elanden en echo's in heel de vallei. Het is onveilig om elanden te benaderen op elk moment van jaar. De bergen en talloze kristalblauwe meren zijn het leefgebied van dieren als zwarte beer, grizzlybeer, wolf, eland en veel meer.
Johnston Canyon
Johnston Canyon is een fantastische plek voor een wandeling in Banff. Het is gemakkelijk bereikbaar en ligt langs de schilderachtige Bow Valley Parkway. De tocht start op een groot en goed onderhouden verharde weg die volgt langs de diepe en prachtige kloof, met water stroomt door middel van deze en verscheidene kleine watervallen in de rotsen. Er zijn een aantal delen van de route, waar je loopt langs metalen loopbruggen bevestigd aan de zijkant van een verticale rotswand, die is spannend! Het pad loopt ook door prachtige beboste delen en het is zeer schilderachtig langs de hele weg. Er zijn enkele geleidelijke hellingen maar is over het algemeen een vrij vlakke en gemakkelijke wandeling.
Emerald Lake
Emerald Lake ligt in Yoho National Park in British Columbia. Het is de grootste van de meren van Yoho en een van de meest populaire. Het meer wordt omsloten door de bergen van de President Range evenals Mount Burgess en Wapta Mountain . De naam van het meer komt van zijn prachtige groene kleur. Een gemakkelijke wandel route van 5 km gaat helemaal rond het meer. Hiermee kunt u genieten van uitzicht op de bergen en de verscheidenheid aan vegetatie in het gebied . Kano huren kan bij het botenhuis in de buurt van de parkeerplaats. Een kleine souvenirwinkel is daar ook.
