Als je de wijk Pietermaai in komt rijden word je al verwelkomd door de vele kleurrijke huisjes zoals je ook tegenkomt in Kaapstad. Ik hou ervan, de kleuren zijn geweldig om foto`s te maken het ene huisje nog leuker als het andere. Deze wijk was echt een achterstandswijk met heel veel vervallen pandjes en zwervers waardoor het niet echt veilig was savonds om er over straat te gaan. In de afgelopen jaren zijn veel van deze authentiek pandjes gerestaureerd en herbergen een aantal hele leuke boutique hotels en een flink aantal restaurants waardoor de hele wijk verhandert is in een leuke veilige wijk.
Vanuit Pietermaai loop je binnen een paar minuten naar Willemstad en steek je de pontjesburg over. Deze wijk bruist en het barst er van de hotspots. Van toffe boutique hotels, tot gezellige bars, goede restaurants. Via Pietermaai loop je eenvoudig door naar Punda & Otrabanda, de twee bekendste wijken van de hoofdstad Willemstad. Kleurrijke pandjes, gezellige bars en cafeetjes, leuke boetiekjes en Street art kenmerken hier het straatbeeld.
We verbleven hier in het meest Instagrammable hotel van Curaçao. Scuba Lodge bestaat uit een aantal panden, ieder in een andere kleur, waarin verschillende kamers en appartementen zijn gevestigd, een aantal met zeezicht. Het hotel is aan zee gelegen en heeft een mooie infinity pool waar het geweldig vertoeven is tijdens zonsondergang. We sliepen in de Valentijn kamer met zeezicht, de kamer heeft een ruim balkon en ook is het voorzien van een klein keukentje als je bijvoorbeeld je eigen ontbijt of diner wilt verzorgen, maar het restaurant is ook zeker een aanrader met de voetjes in het zand ontbijten uitkijkend over de zee geweldig toch.
Direct naast Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel & Ocean Suites ligt een klein stadsstrandje met palmbomen, ligbedjes en bar. Als gast van het hotel heb je hier gratis toegang toe.
Scuba Lodge Boutique Hotel & Ocean Suites, is anders dan de meeste grotere hotels op Curaçao. Het ligt tegen het centrum van Willemstad en aan de buitenkant doet het niet echt aan als een hotel. De kamers zijn standaard voorzien van o.a. een tv, airco, gratis Wifi, kluisje, koelkast, koffie- en theefaciliteiten, badkamer met douche, föhn en toilet en een zitje op de gezamenlijke galerij of begane grond.

It is located against the center of Willemstad and because it is made up of different buildings in different colors, it is not immediately recognizable as a hotel. Tip: sit comfortably by the water.
